Our cuticles tend to dry out and then snag on something then tear. You cannot refrain from picking them up or cutting them to make them even but they grow back unevenly which leads to more snagging and tearing. For you, your cuticles seem unimportant but they do. Tip #1: Prepare the materials
Have at hand the following that you will need: cuticle remover; cuticle/nail cream; cuticle nippers (sharp); orange stick; bandages; rubber gloves; antibiotic ointment; and vitamin e oil.
Tip #2: Heal torn, dry cuticles
If you have dry cuticles that are torn and bleeding, treat them immediately. Use antibacterial ointment and a bandage to protect the cut until it is healed properly.
Tip #3: Soak dry cuticles
As soon as the dry and torn cuticles heal, make them even at once so you are not tempted to pick at them. Try to soak your fingers in warm water for a few minutes then put cuticle remover gel to soften them. Be sure to follow the directions indicated outside the bottle to soften the cuticles thoroughly.
Tip #4: Even out dry cuticles
With the use of an orange stick and a sharp cuticle nipper, remove excess cuticles to even them out and smooth them. Apply vitamin E oil to nourish them and speed the healing as well. Change cuticle nippers when they become dull.
Tip #5: Avoid dry cuticles
Apply rich hand or cuticle cream daily or whenever your cuticles are dry. Be sure to have a small bottle of them in every corner of your home, along with your purse and even in your car or office, so that you have something to use whenever your cuticles become dry.
Tip #6: Wear rubber gloves
Try to wear rubber gloves whenever doing household chores like washing the dishes, doing the laundry and gardening. All of these can dry out your cuticles.
Tip #7: Use petroleum jelly
Apply petroleum jelly before bedtime to damaged areas and slip on a pair of gloves before sleeping. Remove the gloves as soon as you wake up in the morning and wipe away any excess petroleum jelly and you will notice that your skin will become really soft. For very dry skin, you can do this procedure several nights a week. After your fingers are healed, you can continue doing this so as to maintain soft and healthy cuticles and nails as well.
Tip #8: Avoid pushing back your cuticles
Do not clip nor push back your cuticles. They serve as a protection to your nails from bacteria, fungus and help prevent infection. Take good care of them and always keep them healthy by following the above steps.
